With the initiation of Good and Green

A new way of life was seen.

Sustainability became our creed

But how were we to succeed?

Different tools were applied

Many experiments were tried.

Then came compulsory CSR.

This helped us go very far.

With shared value nothing’s lost.

The benefits outweigh the cost.

In India we have it rather nice.

Sustainability has no extra price.

Mandated costs is all we pay.

We can now say we’re on our way.

For us ESG is fine.

Aging well like a vintage wine.

In America some call it Woke.

Leftist hype to make them choke.

They don’t find it very sound

But what goes around comes around!

Sustainability is not a pain.

For after all it is a gain.

It helps us all to survive,

Last long as well as to thrive.

It’s a license to operate.

The ecosystem finds it’s great.

Society, Governments, Banks

Cooperate, convey their thanks.

Together with both heart and brain

Sustainably let’s sustain!

With energy efficiency we always gain

The rate of return is insane.

New opportunities are galore

Let us constantly explore.

And if per chance returns looks low

I would certainly like to know.

Do not push for rejections

Without checking all projections.

If inflation isn’t factored in

Our decision won’t be a win.

Much progress we have seen.

Two thirds of energy is now green.

Now biomass is at the fore.

It’s helped a lot and that’s for sure.

There is much that we can gain

But availability is a pain.

New bamboo varieties are on the way

They can help to save the day.

These varieties rapidly grow.

The energy’s high and ash is low.

They can help our green goal

At a price that competes with coal!

The advantage would be very wide

If carbon credits are applied!

Many benefits we can reap:

A fuel that is very cheap.

Biodiversity can be maintained.

Other products can be gained.

The stalks regrow very fast.

But the roots will still last,

Sequester carbon continually

These are the benefits that we see.

Three years is all it takes to grow.

The income is a steady flow.

We will now diligently try

To build our very own supply.

Many benefits can be seen

A business that is good and green.

Our sustainability goals can be met.

This is indeed a perfect bet!

Whether water, waste, energy or emissions

We are on track for all these missions.

In Science Based Targets we are doing well

With road maps for GAVL and GPL

GIL and GAVL we can see

In the leadership index of CDP.

GPL and GCPL are on a high

As they made it to the DJSI.

Out of India’s total of 33

Two Godrej Companies is what we see.

For all the progress we have seen

Kudos to all teams and Good and Green!

In our operations we’ve made great gains

Let’s focus on our supply chains.

Our own learnings have been great

If we now partner and cooperate

Our suppliers could also learn

How to be green and still earn.

It would also be very wise

If our purchase contracts incentivise

Suppliers who happen to be green.

Steady progress will be seen

A little bit of early pain

Will ensure a long term gain!

Now plastic waste is a pain

On land and sea, it’s such a bane.

We need plastics that biodegrade

More and more are being made.

In India too, they’re on the way

A major role they will play.

As far as goes for the other kind

We should always bear in mind

We must recycle or reuse

Or else repurpose and reduce.

It must be clearly understood

Waste management has to be good.

The task is hard, the task is tall.

Collectively let’s take the call.

If we all collaborate

The outcome will be truly great.

On all these fronts we must strive

And if we do, we’ll surely thrive.

Let us always take the lead.

This will ensure that we succeed.
